Letter from the President
Paige Patterson
Dear Southwesterner:
As Robert Naylor used to love to say, “the sun never sets on Southwestern Seminary.” The present issue of Southwestern News is a vivid witness to the truth of that dictum. The breadth of the ministry of Southwestern Seminary reaching from classrooms here to the ends of the earth will not be missed. In addition to discovering how students and professors at Southwestern are being used in Mexico, Cameroon, Turkey and beyond, the reader will also be introduced to a multiplicity of different programs.
Among these programs, meet our new director of the Smith Center for Leadership Development, Evan Lenow. Find out how you can participate in Southwestern’s on-site archeological dig at exciting Tel Gezer. Listen to the lessons from Black History Day in chapel. Meet our fine faculty in the Roy Fish School of Evangelism and Missions.
On top of all this, make yourself aware of various Bible Lands, Reformation, and Oxford Study Tours that lie immediately ahead and how you can update and expand your educational grasp by participating in one of these.
Probably just about as exciting as anything else to me is that the College at Southwestern is now going to be offering a bachelor’s degree in music. Our excellent music school is joining with our college to provide one of the most unique programs ever. Warmly do we commend this issue to you. Read, enjoy and be greatly blessed.
Until He Comes,
Paige Patterson
