Generosity Overflows to Hurting Family

by Keith Collier

Students and faculty at Southwestern followed the biblical mandate of bearing one another’s burdens through an offering collection, Feb. 12. In a generous display of Christian love, participants in the chapel service mourned with fellow student Sunghan Kim and his family over the death of their child Min, who was born prematurely a few weeks prior and suffered from lung complications.

The impromptu collection produced $3,257.76 to help the family pay for Min’s funeral arrangements. As international students, the Kims are unable to afford the expenses incurred from the hospital and funeral arrangements.

President Paige Patterson asked students and faculty to pray for the family during this difficult time and encouraged them to model the same Christian love and generosity in their churches for other families in need.
