The Seminary Stride 5K run has become a favorite seminary-wide event. Not only is it fun for athletes on campus, but it has been a great opportunity for community outreach. On April 25, the 2009 race took that commitment one step further as it expanded to include an Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Walk.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, affects nearly 30,000 Americans. This cause is of special interest to Southwestern Seminary since the disease affects Robert Mathis, professor of administration and assistant dean for the division of administration. Every step taken in the ALS Walk on campus will be in honor of Mathis’ strength, courage and witness through his battle with this illness. Participants are encouraged to garner pledges for walking in the event, but it is not required.
Start Time: The ALS Walk will commence after the Stride 5K runners clear.
