Speakers

Dr. David Allen

Dr. David Allen serves as the Dean of the School of Theology, Director of the Center of Biblical Preaching, and Professor of Preaching at Southwestern Seminary. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has served as a pastor and preaching professor for most of his ministry. His publications include “Fundamentals of Genre: How Literary Form Affects the Interpretation of Scripture” in The Art and Craft of Biblical Preaching, ed. Brian Larson and “With a Bible in My Hand: The Preaching Legacy of Dr. W. A. Criswell,” Criswell Theological Review.

Dr. Steven Smith serves as Vice President for Student Services and Communications at Southwestern Seminary as well as Professor of Communication for the College at Southwestern. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication and is Author of Dying to Preach: Embracing the Cross in the Pulpit. Prior to his role as Dean, Dr. Smith served as Assistant Professor of Preaching and Associate Dean for the Professional Doctoral Program at Southwestern. His experience also includes serving as Senior Pastor of Salem Baptist Church in Richmond, VA.
