Recently Southwestern announced the approval of plans to build 12 new apartment buildings in Student Village. These buildings will be comprised of 216 two-bedroom units and 36 three-bedroom units. Construction on the first phase of new student housing will begin sometime this summer and be completed no later than July 2012. The following outlines the amenities, square footage, pricing, eligibility, and guidelines for application.

Amenities: In addition to standard amenities such as an electric range/oven and refrigerator, the new units will include several new amenities:

  • Washer/Dryer Connections (electric only)
  • Dishwasher
  • Kitchen pantry
  • Laminate flooring in living spaces, carpet in bedrooms
  • Master bedroom with walk-in closet (closet accessible from bathroom in three-bedroom unit)
  • Walk-in closet in guest bedroom
  • Balcony with storage closet (three-bedroom units only)
Pricing    
2 Bedroom/2 Bath 975 sq. ft. $650 (tenant pays electric)
3 Bedroom/2 Bath 1,110 sq. ft. $800 (tenant pays electric)

Eligibility: The standard eligibility requirements for living in campus housing apply. Singles, couples, and families may apply for two-bedroom apartments. Three-bedroom apartments will be reserved for families with three or more children or two children with one child that is at least 10 years old.

  • Southwestern is granting first priority of assignment to tenants displaced by the second phase of the project (Summer 2012).
  • Transfer fees will be waived for a designated period for all transfers into new housing.
  • Transfer fees will also be waived for residents required to move at the beginning of phase two who choose to transfer to a different area of campus housing.
  • All assignments will be subject to eligibility and availability.
