William Colson
Distinguished Professor of Music Theory and Composition

Dr. Colson holds the Bachelor of Music degree in composition from Oberlin Conservatory of Music (1967), the Master of Music degree in composition from the University of Illinois (1968), and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in composition from the University of Illinois (1975).  Dr. Colson serves on the Commission on Academic Activities and Standards of the Texas Association of Music Schools.  He is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Schenkerian Studies, a peer-reviewed journal published by the Institute for Schenkerian Studies of the University of North Texas.  His biography has appeared in such publications as Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, Dictionary of International Biography, Men of Achievement, International Directory of Distinguished Leadership, and America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals.
