Denny Autrey
Professor of Pastoral Ministries and Dean of the J. Dalton Havard School for Theological Studies

Since 2004, Denny Autrey has served as the Dean and Professor of Pastoral Ministries of the J. Dalton Havard School for Theological Studies, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary's Houston campus.  The Havard School is the fourth school of Southwestern and is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) as a free-standing, degree-granting institution under the authority of Southwestern Seminary.  One bachelor's degree and four masters degrees are offered at their Park Place campus which is located just outside Loop 610 South on I-45.


Prior to his election to this post, Autrey served as senior pastor to various Southern Baptist churches in Texas and Oklahoma (West End Baptist, Galveston, TX; Alta Vista Baptist, Pasadena, TX; FBC, Guymon, OK; and FBC Lindale, TX).  He brings thirty years of pastoral experience to the classroom where academic truth and practical knowledge come together to enhance the teaching experience.  His undergraduate degree is a BBA from Stephen F. Austin State University in Management and Marketing, and his graduate work began at Southwestern's Houston extension where he earned his MDivBL (1984) and his DMin from Southwestern (1987).  Autrey is entering his dissertation stage of a PhD from Southwestern in Homiletics and Evangelism.  He is married to Angela and they have three daughters, Amber Stovall of North Carolina; Julie Welch of Paris, Texas; and Haley Autrey.  The Autreys serve as members of Sagemont Church in Houston.
