Revised Degree Programs
Roy Fish School of Evangelism and Missions
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
Fort Worth, Texas

Yes, we have only existed since August 1, 2005. The first order of business was to revise and redesign ALL of our degree programs. We think you’ll find them to be user friendly but academically challenging. Our aim is to produce thinking doers who will fully engage the lostness of our world. This is extreme stuff. You’ll receive a thorough grounding in God’s Word, come to understand the age old yet very new theological trends and appreciate what it means to be a Baptist within the larger context of Church history in general. Then there are the primary foci of our school--evangelism and missions--that will encourage and challenge you. We have professors with years of experience blended with outstanding academic qualifications and huge hearts for winning a lost world to Christ.

Take a look at any or all of the degree programs. If you have any questions at all, please email me and let me know. We’re here to serve YOU!

You’ll be asked to fill out a very brief 2 field registration form so we can know better how to serve you. So don’t let that bother you. It doesn’t mean you’re actually deciding to do one of these degrees. It only means we want to contact you to make sure any or all of your questions are fully answered.

I also want to draw your attention particularly to the variation in the MDiv with International Church Planting degree. It takes a little explanation. Because of the necessity of spending only two years on the Southwestern campus, completion of both biblical languages, while crucially important for Bible study and teaching, poses a significant challenge. Accordingly, the student may, with the permission of the dean of the Roy Fish School of Evangelism and Missions, complete either four semesters of Greek or three semesters of Hebrew. As incentive and assistance extended to church planters to take both biblical languages using summers and I-term opportunities, Southwestern offers any student who takes both biblical languages a scholarship to cover the second language plus scholarship to cover an additional twelve hours of field-based requirements.

All this and if you’re a returning Journeyman or ISCer with the International Mission Board, there are scholarships available. Please contact financialaid@swbts.edu and mention you’re interested in this particular scholarship program.

As you pray about God’s call on your life, if you have questions or simply want someone to bounce your vision and dreams off of, please notify me. We want to help. Here’s my email address: KEitel@swbts.edu
