You can deliver a clear, effective, expository sermon without putting your congregation to sleep.  The Expository Preaching Workshop will aid you in clearly communicating the message of Scripture to your congregation while keeping them engaged at every turn. The workshop will take place on March 8-9, 2010. Early registration for the workshop is $25 for students and $50 for non-students through February 22, 2010. After February 22, registration fees increase to $50 for students and $75 for non-students.

Speakers

Dr. Jay W. Richards picture

Dr. Jerry Vines served as the pastor of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL from 1982 until 2006. He holds a Th.D. from Luther Rice Seminary. He served two terms as President of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1988–1989. He has authored numerous works, including Power in the Pulpit. Dr. Vines currently travels the country preaching and hosting “Power in the Pulpit” conferences to help pastors become more effective in the preparation and delivery of expository sermons.

 

Dr. Steve Gains

Dr. Steve Gaines serves as the pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, TN. Dr. Gaines earned his Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. His publications include When God Comes to Church and Morning Manna. Dr. Gaines has served on denominational boards and committess, most notably the Baptist Faith and Message Study Committee. He also served as the President of the Southern Baptist Pastors' Conference in 2005 and has been the keynote speaker at many denominational events.

 

 

Dr. David Platt serves as the senior pastor of the Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Platt earned his Ph.D. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he previously served as Dean of Chapel and Assistant Professor of Expository Preaching and Apologetics.

 

Dr. Jay W. Richards picture

Dr. Paige Patterson earned his Ph.D. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  He served as the President of The Criswell College 1975-1992 and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary 1992-2003.  He currently serves as the President of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  His experience also includes a number of years serving as pastor.  He is a member of the Board of Reference for the Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.  Dr. Patterson’s publications include The Church in the 21st Century. Dr. William Dembski

David Allen serves as the Dean of the School of Theology, Director of the Center of Biblical Preaching, and Professor of Preaching at Southwestern Seminary. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has served as a pastor and preaching professor for most of his ministry. His publications include “Fundamentals of Genre: How Literary Form Affects the Interpretation of Scripture” in The Art and Craft of Biblical Preaching, ed. Brian Larson and “With a Bible in My Hand: The Preaching Legacy of Dr. W. A. Criswell,” Criswell Theological Review.

Dr. Richard Martinez

Calvin Pearson serves as the Assistant Dean for Preaching and Pastoral Studies at Southwestern Seminary. He holds a D.Min. from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and is currently working on a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has extensive pastoral experience and is a member of the Evangelical Homiletics Society and the Evangelical Theological Society.

Dr. Mitchell Neubert picture

Steven Smith serves as Dean for the College at Southwestern. He holds a Ph.D. from Regent University. He has written for Christianity Today and has presented about preaching at numerous conferences. He is a member of the Evangelical Homiletics Society and the Evangelical Theological Society.
