Church and Family Ministries

Adult Education

A study of scripture to form the foundation for adult discipleship. This foundation will be used to develop spiritual growth designs and discipleship models for the stages and situations of the adult life. Special focus will be placed on discipleship and ministry with emerging adults, single adults/single parents, married adults, older adults, and intergenerational groups.

Educational Ministries

A study of the ministry of education in the local church and the work of the staff member assigned to lead this ministry, historically called the Minister of Education and the work of the pastor. This course will focus on biblical principles and methods of developing small group ministries in the local church, including what has been called Sunday School. The local church ministry of education will be placed in the context of sound theology and philosophy for Christian Education.

Human Growth & Dev

A study of what the Bible teaches about humanity, what it means to be created in the image of God, and mankind’s relationship to God. God’s understanding of personal chronological and spiritual growth, the biblical definition of maturity for a man or woman, and God’s expectations of His creation will be explored. Upon this study, the course will help the student to understand and to develop sound pedagogy for the local church.

An investigation of the Bible and theological texts in order to derive theological principles related to family roles and structure, family discipleship, and family health and well-being. Special emphases will include an examination of an ecclesiastical model for the integration of church and its constituent families.

A study of biblical ecclesiology, theology of the church, and of the theology that leads to a biblical understanding of the family. This course will provide historical review and current application of theology to the local church and Christian family that can lead toward biblical practice of ministry and education in the home and through the local church.

This seminar will examine biblical models for “teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.” Practical application will be gleaned from an investigation of the teaching methods of Jesus and from other passages of Scripture.
