Southwestern Seminary encouraged by job market growth, low student debt

FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS) – Newly released statistics give hope to students at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to find financial stability as they pursue their education and as they enter the ministry.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram [http://www.star-telegram.com/2011/05/31/3117145/dallas-fort-worth-again-leads.html] reported Tuesday, May 31, that Dallas-Fort Worth continues to lead the nation in the increase of jobs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the metroplex’s job growth has increased by 2.9 percent since last April, compared to 1.1 percent for the whole nation.

Southwestern Seminary also reported that few students have acquired educational debt while at the seminary. According to a recent survey of graduates, 85.9 percent of Southwestern’s students gained no educational debt while at seminary. Another 7.6 percent owe less than $5,000.
