Southwestern changes academic, chapel schedules

FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS) – Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary has approved changes to its class and chapel schedules that will be put into effect during the fall semester of 2011.
Modifying the fall and spring semesters, the seminary will now close for fall break during the week following Oct. 3. This fall, the break is scheduled for Oct. 3–7. During the spring semester, the seminary will also begin a week later in order to provide more time for winter classes and mission trips. Each semester will end at the same time as it did before these changes were made, in effect shortening the semester by one week.
Other changes will affect class and chapel times each week. The seminary will now offer classes from 7:00–8:15 a.m. on Tuesday through Friday. This will give students who work an opportunity to take classes while missing less time at work. Due to this change, classes that formerly began at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday through Friday will be held from 8:30–9:45 a.m.
Additionally, the seminary has rescheduled its chapel service, which will now begin at 10:00 a.m. and end by 11:10 a.m. The seminary will continue to hold chapel services on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week. Because of this change, students can now attend class from 11:30 a.m.–12:45 p.m.
