Veteran composer, music publisher will visit campuses in Texas, Tennessee and Virginia

Donald Wyrtzen, professor of music in The College at Southwestern, will be embarking on the lecture circuit in March and February. He will be discussing worship and musical movements in American church history during the tour.

Wyrtzen was elected to the faculty of The College of Southwestern, the undergraduate institution of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in 2005. He has been in the music business for more than 40 years, serving with Zondervan Publishing’s Singspiration Music. He also chaired the music department at Dallas Bible College and for 10 years was an instructor in hymnology at Dallas Theological Seminary.

Wyrtzen will present “Church Music in the 21st Century” at Bryan College, a non-denominational Christian college in Dayton, Tenn., Feb. 22-24. He will also present a lecture, “Five Movements in American Church Music,” at Dallas Theological Seminary March 22. Finally, Wyrtzen will lecture on worship and piano improve at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., March 7-9.
