Pattersons to speak at fifth World Congress of Families

FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS) -- President Paige Patterson and his wife Dorothy Patterson have been selected to speak at the World Congress of Families V in Amsterdam, August 10-12, 2009. Richard Land, president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, has also been selected to speak at this year’s conference.

Last fall, Mrs. Patterson served on the committee that selected the location for this year’s conference. Upon her return, she said, “The World Congress of Families is the only organization successfully addressing the importance of the natural family in an international setting.”

The Pattersons have both been involved with the WCF over the past several years. Dr. Patterson presented a message entitled “Messages of Hope: The Phenomenon of Spiritual Renewal and Dynamics of Transformation,” during the fourth meeting of the WCF in Warsaw, Poland, in May 2007.

The World Congress of Families boasts being “the world’s largest conference of pro-family leaders and grass-roots activists.” More than 3,600 pro-family scholars, legislators, leaders and activists from 62 nations attended the 2007 WCF.
