Advanced Expository Preaching Workshop
Preaching Jesus' Timeless Stories: The Parables in Luke
Designed to assist pastors in mastering the techniques of preaching, this Advanced Expository Preaching Workshop will focus on parables. After surveying the structure and interpretation of these parables, you will learn from experienced scholars and preachers how you can better develop and deliver these valuable lessons from Christ.
The workshop will take place on October 10, 2008 in The Riley Center on the campus of Southwestern Seminary. Registration is $35 for all participants through September 26. David Allen serves as the Dean of the School of Theology, Director of the Center of Biblical Preaching, and Professor of Preaching at Southwestern Seminary. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has served as a pastor and preaching professor for most of his ministry. His publications include “Fundamentals of Genre: How Literary Form Affects the Interpretation of Scripture” in The Art and Craft of Biblical Preaching, ed. Brian Larson and “With a Bible in My Hand: The Preaching Legacy of Dr. W. A. Criswell,” Criswell Theological Review. |

Calvin Pearson serves as the Assistant Dean for Preaching and Pastoral Studies at Southwestern Seminary. He holds a D.Min. from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and is currently working on a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has extensive pastoral experience and is a member of the Evangelical Homiletics Society and the Evangelical Theological Society. |

Steven Smith serves as Associate Dean for Doctor of Ministry at Southwestern Seminary. He holds a Ph.D. from Regent University. He is the author of the forthcoming The Cross in the Pulpit and has presented about preaching at numerous conferences. He is a member of the Evangelical Homiletics Society and the Evangelical Theological Society. |

Jason Lee serves as the Assistant Dean for Theological Studies and Associate Professor of Historical Theology at Southwestern Seminary. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen. He is the author of The Theology of John Smyth and is the Editor of the forthcoming volume on Matthew for the Reformation Commentary on Scripture. He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, the Society of Biblical Literature, the Baptist History and Heritage Society, and the Mennonite Historical Society. |
