Ira Jones

Associate Professor of Christian Education

Ira Jones has 36 years experience in church related ministries. Twenty years have been in local church ministries, serving ten years as Christian Educator, and ten years as pastor, and sixteen years as a missionary of the International Mission Board, SBC. As a Missionary, Ira served as state church growth consultant in Brazil. The majority of the churches he served were in metropolitan centers. Ira taught Christian Education for six years in seminaries in Brazil. He finished his Doctor of Education degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2004. Ira's dissertation examined growing, plateaued, and declining churches in the metropolitan center of Houston, Texas. Ira served for six years as an adjunct professor for Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he taught Christian Education courses both in Houston and in San Antonio, Texas. Ira was elected Associate Professor of Christian Education in 2010 by Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
