Join us is in the journey
In the fall 2006 semester, students came from 37 states, 33 foreign countries, and represented 38 denominations, although 95 percent of Southern Baptists. Our graduates live and minister all over the face of the earth. That is what Robert Naylor, one of the seminary's former presidents, meant when he said, "The sun never sets on Southwestern."
International students on F-1 student visas average 10 percent of the student population.
Our students come from churches of all sizes and locations: 7 percent rural; 25 percent small town; 31 percent suburban; 24 percent urban.
In a recent survey of new seminary students, the highest ranking factors in making a decision to pursue a theological education were:
- Experienced a call from God,
- Opportunity for study/growth,
- Desire to serve others,
- Desire to discern God's will, and
- Desire to make a difference.
